FUNCTION:Open until filled
The MTSS Coordinator is responsible for supporting the successful implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports MTSS school-based intervention teams as outlined in the NJ Department of Education. The primary function would include ongoing data Analysis, MTSS Implementation support, MTSS school team meeting facilitation, and reduction of placement in Special Education without prior interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requirements:
NJ Teaching Cert, 5 years of teaching
Experience with MTSS implementation
Experience with interventions
Special Education Background preferred
Prior leadership experience, Ability to work with teams, and the ability to ensure that all students can and will learn
The ability to monitor multiple processes at once while maintaining accurate data
Be able to present professional development, potentially for large groups
Experience leading teams toward a broader goal
Experience with restorative practices and alternatives to suspension
Experience with a database to organize and lead data-based conversations
REPORTS TO:
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction
PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES:
Knowledge & Skills:
Deep understanding of MTSS frameworks, including RTI (Response to Intervention) and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports).
Proficiency with assessment tools (e.g., universal screeners, diagnostics) and data systems (e.g., SWIS, AIMSweb, i-Ready, FastBridge).
Familiarity with curriculum and intervention programs across tiers (academic and behavioral).
Strong data analysis and interpretation skills to drive instruction and interventions.
Training and coaching skills for supporting teachers, school staff, and administrators.
Understanding of state and federal regulations (IDEA, ESSA, Section 504).
Responsibilities Typically Include:
Leading and managing district-wide MTSS implementation.
Providing professional development and coaching on MTSS practices.
Collaborating with district and school leadership teams.
Monitoring fidelity of intervention implementation.
Attending building MTSS meetings
Analyzing student data to guide decision-making.
Supporting school teams with tiered intervention plans and progress monitoring.
Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or designee
