Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, establishing a positive first impression.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and efficiency.
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Opendental.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance claims processing utilizing Eassist and EDS.
- Collect payments, process dental collections, and maintain accurate financial records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain and update patient records in electronic health record (EHR) ensuring documentation review for completeness.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and managing appointment reminders.
- Assist with dental billing and documentation review to support accurate dental administrative support.
- Handle filing of dental records, manage office correspondence, and ensure compliance with health information management standards.
- Support office management tasks including filing systems and general clerical duties to keep the front desk organized and efficient.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental office is required.
- Demonstrated proficiency with dental terminology and healthcare documentation practices.
- Strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), dental practice management software such as Opendental.
- Experience with insurance verification processes and dental billing procedures including Medicare claims is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
