What are the responsibilities and job description for the SO Financial Analyst position at Williamson County?
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to a Financial Manager, responsible for assisting in the administration of the Sheriff’s Office (SO) and County Jail financial services in a manner consistent with the SO and county’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws/regulations, and to ensure the safeguard of its assets.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Assists with accounts payable when Financial Clerk is unavailable
- Reviews and develops, or suggests modification(s) to existing, fiscal and administrative goals, policies, procedures, and systems to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the financial and analytical services of the SO, including management of contracts for SO and Corrections
- Participates in analyzing the economic and financial feasibility of proposed projects, including the preparation of technical, administrative, and cost/benefit analysis reports and presentations
- Assists with the purchasing activities of the SO, including the preparation and distribution of requests for proposals for services and materials
- Supports the annual SO budget process by assistance with budget development, implementation, and preparation
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs special duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying

IRREGULAR HOURS
- Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
- May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field and three (3) years of business finance or other relevant experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within thirty (30) days of employment
- Valid driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of Federal, State and Local laws, rules and regulations pertaining to governmental accounting and budgeting
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong financial modeling experience
