What You’ll Experience
As an Operations Technician, you’ll be part of a dynamic team maintaining one of Williams’ largest installations of horsepower and power distribution equipment. You’ll gain valuable experience working with:
- Gas turbines and high-speed reciprocating engines
- Medium voltage generators and power distribution systems
- Environmental controls and distributed control systems
What You’ll Do
As an I&E-focused Operations Technician, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the electrical and control systems that keep our facilities running. Your responsibilities may include:
- Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems, including switchgear, motor controls, control loops, PLCs (Allen Bradley), and both AC/DC systems.
- Ensuring safe and reliable operations by identifying root causes of equipment issues and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Maintaining and repairing process control systems to support efficient plant operations.
- Collaborating with project teams to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new installations and upgrades.
- Performing additional duties as needed to support operations.
Required for All Levels:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and travel between locations
- Ability to work in extreme conditions and elevated areas with PPE
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to safety and operational excellence
- Technician II: 2 years of related experience, preferably in oil & gas
- Technician III: 3 years of technician experience, preferably in oil & gas
- Technician Sr: 6 years of experience with similar equipment or facilities; Associate degree preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC applications
- Familiarity with Process Control Systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Ability to embrace new technologies and drive operational efficiency
- Work in a variety of conditions, including extreme temperatures, loud areas, and confined spaces
- Lift up to 50 lbs (team lift for heavier loads)
- Perform physical tasks like standing, walking, climbing, bending, and squatting for extended periods
- Work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, or lifts, with proper PPE
- Use hand tools regularly
- Be available for rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call duty
- Expect 10–12 hour shifts with potential overtime
- Travel between locations with occasional overnight stays
