As Engineer Sr - Automation, you will use innovation and judgement to resolve sophisticated problems, working closely with multiple company partners to ensure accurate and available data. You may coordinate the work of team members, so leadership, presentation and training skills are vital. Project planning and the ability to collaborate are keys to success in this role and safety is of utmost importance! In addition, you will develop and implement condition-based maintenance programs, enhance the reliability of automation systems, and assist with equipment outages and maintenance. Your responsibilities include reviewing management of change plans, supporting project design and automation systems, developing and delivering training programs, coordinating firmware and software testing, creating implementation plans, and performing due diligence.

Responsibilities/Expectations:

  • Performs moderately difficult assignments to ensure system integrity, support pipeline operations, maintain compliance and maintain facility equipment
  • Troubleshoots/resolves sophisticated problems using technical evaluation, innovation and judgment
  • Develops, presents and trains internal and external partners; may mentor others
  • Participates in project planning and works closely with company partners
  • Leads development and tasks associated with operations, equipment maintenance, technical standards and/or governmental requirements
  • Reads, understands and evaluates engineering design documents, contracts and agreements
  • Develop and modify PLC programs to support small automation projects and operational changes
  • Configure, build, and maintain HMI screens for station and unit systems
  • Support Operations by troubleshooting control programs, electrical and pneumatic systems, field instrumentation, and communications
  • Apply software patches and firmware updates in accordance with company standards
  • Perform program backups and archiving per Williams standards
  • Train and support technicians on controls and automation systems
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with a broad range of field instruments
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Years of Experience:

Engineer Sr.

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited college or university, OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology in a relevant field with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; A minimum eight (8) years of multifaceted engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum seven (7) years of progressive engineering experience in the natural gas or petrochemical industry and PE Certification

Physical and Environment Work Requirements:

Must be willing to:

  • Work in extreme temperatures, with loud noises and in enclosed spaces
  • Carry or lift items up to 50 lbs and team lift loads of more than 50 lbs as needed
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat, often for long periods of time
  • Work at elevated levels, potentially from man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Use hand tools

Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:

  • Available to work after hours, on-call rotations, nights, weekend shifts and holidays as needed
  • May be required to work overtime, 10-12 hour shifts and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays
  • May be required to travel 50% of the time

Other Requirements:

  • Must possess valid State Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational/interpersonal skills and safety as a main priority
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application and PC skills

, May direct work of other engineers and/or support staff. Activities typically involve assignments of a specialized function or engineering discipline and include technical and economic evaluation, performance testing, design and construction of new facilities, or upgrading existing facilities, and research on new developments.
