What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Watch Staff position at Williams YMCA of Avery County?
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Membership, the Childwatch Employee will supervise and guide a child’s development in a safe and healthy environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Develop and maintain relationships with members and their children
- Adhere to Child Development Center discipline procedures, check in rules and regulations
- Observe and follow all safety and security procedures
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe play area at all times
- Responsible for set up, breakdown and clean-up of activities and child care area
- Supervise and entertain of children ages 6 weeks to 11 years old
- Employ creative techniques, such as games, creative play, arts and crafts, and other methods to engage children
- Performs additional tasks as assigned by supervisor or other leadership staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 15 years of age.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
