Job Description
POSITION: SECONDARY ART TEACHER
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: As part of a secondary teaching assignment, teaches multiple classes of Art to pupils in grades 7-12, and assists in other school programs as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on the individual pupil’s progress.
- Supervises pupils in and out of classroom activities as needed by student groups.
- Requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies, and maintains required inventory records.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level.
- Performs basic attendance accounting.
- Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.
- May plan, coordinate and supervise student teachers, aides, and other assistants.
- May work with pupils in speech and drama activities and productions for school and community. Guides students entering speech and drama contests.
- Credential: California Single Subject Art
- Education: Degree requirements will be those required by the State of California.
- Personal Qualities: Appearance, grooming, and personality which establish a desirable example for pupils. Ability to meet district standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from student teaching supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and classroom performance desirable model for pupils. Is willing to function within the framework in standards of the staff and community.
