Estimator

Description

We are currently seeking an experienced construction professional to join our team.  The Estimator will work from our Jacksonville, Florida home office and will report to the Chief Operation Officer.   

• Responsible for coordinating bid process and bid submission on prospective projects 
• Coordinate the assembling and distribution of bid packages
• Receive and validate subcontractor bids
• Compile proposals for submission to owner intities
• Form relationships with current and new subcontractors, owners, brokers, and clients 
• Identify areas of concern and creatively price challenging projects to ensure we offer our clients the best value for their construction dollar.  
• Assemble a complete presentation-worthy estimate package that clearly communicates project cost
• Collaborate with project team to establish the necessary staffing and project requirements
• Ability to prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages.
• Participate and often lead the preparation and presentation of cost / budget information to the customer/owner
• Provide innovative solutions to complex issues as they arise related to cost, lead-times, trade partners, and/or specified products or materials 
•  Develop RFI’s and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage
•  Acts as a resource for project management by providing cost information and developing cost estimates for   changes in the work, during different construction phases.
•  Ensure that the estimating process runs smoothly and efficiently and client expectations are exceeded 
•  Build relationships to understand client, designer and subcontractor needs and expectations
•  Periodically participate in business development activities, presentations and interviews
•  Perform additional assignments and assume additional responsibilities as needed

Requirements

We are looking for a flexible, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines. The successful Estimator candidate will possess: 

• Associate or Bachelor degree in construction, architecture or engineering is preferred
• 3 years of experience in commercial construction 
• 5 years experience in commercial construction as an Estimator
• Proven track record of winning profitable projects in a competitive bid environment
• Must have experience with the bidding process: soliciting bids, communicating with the bidders, evaluating subcontractor proposals, using bid tally sheets, etc.
• Proficient knowledge of pre-construction and its practices
• Must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast pace environment
• Must be able to recommend creative, innovative and cost saving solutions to projects
• Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as detail orientated
• Possess strong mathematical and computer skills
• Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel), prior use of RedTeam, Takeoff and sage estimating a plus
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to breakdown construction operations into a logical sequence of activities 
• Must be eligible to work in the US and have a valid drivers license
• Pre-employment background screening (criminal, drug screen and DMV) is required for all positions
