What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at Williams Residential Services, LLC?
Registered Nurse will provide care and treatment to adults in need of intensive service provision. Williams Residential Services LLC residential program consists of residential homes, which are supervised 24 hours/day. Registered Nurse will assist with preventing re-hospitalization and to maximizing and maintaining successful community placement.
Responsibilities:
- Administers medications, observing the Seven Rights of medication administration. Monitor residents for potential side effects of medications and report findings to the physician.
- Delegate assignments to License Practical Nurse and direct care staff according to standards of the Alabama Nurse Delegation Program. Registered Nurse will serve as on-call nurse in the Nurse Delegation Program with LPN MAS nurse.
- Instruct employees of Williams Residential Services LLC (MAC Workers) on proper techniques in regard to the medication administration procedures, including dispensing of medications, knowledge of medications given, side effects, pharmacy ordering the medications and storage of medications.
- Check in medications monthly and as needed ensuring accuracy in regard to physicians' orders.
- Make changes on Medication Administration Records as needed to ensure accuracy in medication administration.
- Perform skilled nursing functions including catheterization, clean or sterile, administration of injectable medications, calculation of medication dosages other than measuring a prescribed amount of liquid medication or breaking a scored tablet, gastric tube feedings, invasive procedures, and sterile procedures.
- Review records of individuals served (post hospital or clinic appointments) and follow up to ensure physician orders are carried out.
- Receipt of verbal or telephone orders from a licensed prescriber.
- In-service (train) staff on specific and necessary precautionary measures when dealing with individuals with communicable disease.
- In-service staff or care providers on medical treatments as ordered by physicians.
- Visit agency homes to assess post-hospital individuals and ensure physician orders are carried out.
- Serve as a liaison between health care professionals, individuals served and their family members.
- Maintain records and completed documents of individuals served and their care.
- Appropriately report incidents of health and safety concerns in a timely manner, including medication errors, as required by IPMS.
- Ongoing compliance with the Nurse Delegation Program, including recertification requirements, including taking MAS calls and logging information.
