Williams‐Keepers LLC (WK) seeks qualified
individuals Tax Staff I accountant positions in its
Columbia and Jefferson City offices. Tax Staff I
Accountants are entry‐level associates with an
educational/experiential background in accounting,
financial statement preparation, auditing, tax
preparation and tax law. Work is performed under close
supervision. Responsibilities increase with
demonstrated skill.
Reports to
Tax Partner
Essential Functions
Tax Staff I Accountants will be responsible for all
assignments made by their supervisors. Tasks may
include:
preparing less complex individual, corporate,
partnership and various other tax returns for
clients, under close supervision of a member,
manager, supervisor or senior;
applying accounting principles and technical tax
procedures to tax and accounting assignments;
recognizing the existence of tax problems when
working on returns;
differentiating between serious and minor
problems;
demonstrating the ability to formulate
alternatives when unable to solve problems;
identifying problem areas in the return that
need to be discussed with the supervisor;
preparing clear and concise work papers with
definitive conclusions;
developing familiarity with the Generally
Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
principles;
researching tax problems and document their
results;
developing solid foundation of tax preparation
techniques; and
completing other tasks as assigned by their
supervisor.

Tax Staff I Accountants in this position are expected to:
maintain client and firm confidentiality;
follow regulations and professional ethics of the
American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA) and Missouri Society of
Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA);
demonstrate the ability to formulate
alternatives when unable to solve problems;
effectively apply information technology tools
in assigned areas;
display efficient work habits – work must be
accurate, organized and prompt;
work in a fast‐paced manner on routine jobs
where prior patterns are well‐established;
effectively balance numerous tasks and
projects;
develop positive working relationships with
clients, members and other associates;
exhibit effective communication and listening
skills;
behave professionally and foster an
environment of team work; and
comply with firm practice management
procedures and systems, as outlined in the
associate handbook.
Professional Development
Tax Staff I Accountants in this position are expected to
develop professionally by:
displaying progress towards completing CPA
certification;
participating in continuing professional
education; and
accepting additional responsibility as assigned.

Educational Requirements
Applicants must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
in accounting or have completed the hours required to
sit for the CPA exam. Successful candidates will have
earned a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0
scale and demonstrate knowledge of basic accounting
principles and proficiency in related computer software.
Working Conditions
Minimal safety hazards, general office conditions.
Other Considerations
Final candidates will undergo a drug screening,
background check and credit check prior to
employment.
