Summary of Position:

This position requires the employee to assemble, test and package, equipment in support of the WFHC fire apparatus equipment OEM business.

Reports to: OEM Manager

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with the WF&HC Safety Program, OSHA and EPA.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers and management.
  • Assemble firefighting foam systems and equipment utilized by the OEM fire apparatus manufactures.
  • Ability to operate various types of forklifts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Work with hand as well as air and electric powered tools.
  • Perform quality inspections and testing on OEM equipment and systems as required.
  • Maintain parts inventory and stock of completed systems and kits.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Preferred:

  • 3 years technical experience
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Mechanical troubleshooting
  • DC electrical knowledge a plus
  • Basic hydraulics knowledge a plus
  • Fire apparatus knowledge a plus
  • Basic knowledge of operating portable diesel-powered water pumps a plus

Education:

Requires that the employee have at least an H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Associates degree in a technical field, or 3-5 years equivalent industry experience. Advanced training, certification, education a plus.

Work Conditions:

Extended hours and/or overtime may be required based on workload. Off-shift hours and/or weekends may be required based on production needs. General work area is in a production environment where moderate levels of noise and/or heat and cold occur. Employees will frequently operate mechanical equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, pallet jacks, ladders, etc.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands listed are essential for the employee of this position to successfully perform this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee will occasionally be required to physically lift, pull, push or apply force up to 50 lbs. Occasional grasping, bending, stooping, and twisting are involved. Extended periods of squatting, standing, climbing, kneeling and walking are occasionally required. The employee must have constant free mobility of hands, wrists and arms to operate hand tools, computer equipment and materials storage equipment. Some physical and mechanical dexterity is required.

Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
