Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. Duties
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and procedures, including the placement and adjustment of braces and other orthodontic appliances.
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are sterile and ready for use.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) as required, following safety protocols and ensuring patient comfort.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, documenting patient progress and treatment plans.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and the importance of following orthodontic instructions for optimal treatment outcomes.
- Manage appointment scheduling, including follow-up visits, ensuring efficient patient flow within the office.
- Collaborate with team members to provide a positive patient experience, addressing any questions or concerns promptly.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques with a strong understanding of general dentistry practices.
- Familiarity with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Epic for managing patient records and scheduling.
- Knowledge of medical records management and adherence to HIPAA guidelines to protect patient confidentiality.
- Understanding of anatomy related to dental care, including vital signs monitoring when necessary.
- Experience or knowledge in prosthodontics is a plus but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
