What are the responsibilities and job description for the Strings & Piano Faculty — Pre-College Conservatory Studio (North Atlanta) position at William Pu Music Academy?
William Pu Music Academy (WPMA) trains some of the most committed young string players and pianists in the Southeast, and we're expanding our faculty roster. If you've built a serious performance and teaching career — at a conservatory, in a professional ensemble, or over an international career — and you want to develop your own studio of motivated students, we'd like to hear from you.
WPMA runs a pre-college, conservatory-style program in North Atlanta. Alongside weekly one-on-one lessons, most students work through structured musicianship, theory, and sight-reading; performs regularly in studio classes and recitals; plays in chamber and orchestral ensembles; and studies with visiting artists in masterclasses.
Where our students go. Each year our students earn concertmaster, principal, and section-leadership chairs in ensembles including NYO, NYO2, the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, and GMEA All-State. They place as prizewinners in regional, national, and international concerto and chamber competitions and attend leading summer festivals. Graduates have gone on to conservatories such as Juilliard, Peabody, the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, New England Conservatory, and the San Francisco Conservatory — as well as universities including Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, MIT, Stanford, UChicago, Brown, Cornell, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Duke.
What the role involves:
- Teaching weekly private lessons in your instrument
- Shaping and growing your own studio of dedicated students
- Coaching students toward youth-orchestra auditions, competitions, festivals, and juries — repertoire, practice strategy, and performance presence
- Participating in studio classes and recitals across the year
Who we're looking for:
- An accomplished violinist, violist, cellist, double bassist, or pianist
- Substantial experience teaching pre-college or pre-professional students
- Training from a leading conservatory or music program — candidates with international training and performance backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply
- A clear, motivating method for building technique and repertoire across levels
Pay: From $55.00 per hour
