Unit Mission Statement
The Executive Vice President (EVP) oversees University Operations, which supports the day-to-day management of services required to meet the university’s mission. The COO is responsible for transacting business on behalf of the university and provides leadership and direction with respect to the university’s strategic positioning. The EVP partners with senior leaders to shepherd the use of the university’s human, financial, physical and technological resources.
The EVP serves as member of the president’s executive leadership team and Cabinet. He participates in university-wide strategic planning and is responsible jointly with the provost for the university’s budget.
The units comprising University Operations share a common goal of providing excellent service delivery that is inclusive, transparent and accountable. In delivering service, University Operations maintains a focus on collaboration, continuous improvement, best-in-class technology, and the strategic and sustainable use of university resources.
Position Summary
The Chief of Staff (CoS) position supports the goals of the office of the EVP, expediting successful implementation of initiatives, and enhancing the efficiency of our collective efforts as a team. Under limited supervision, the position is responsible for day-to-day operations of the office, and requires resourcefulness, excellent prioritization skills, a strong service orientation, and the ability to successfully interact with all levels of the university community and departments across the institution.
The incumbent will direct and execute special projects on behalf of the EVP and works in close collaboration with the EVP in the execution of new programs and initiatives. This position also facilitates communication among the EVP’s senior staff and direct reports, with the Office of the President, and across the university. This position represents the interests and priorities of the EVP and University Operations team through effective communication, coordination, and integration of priorities and objectives.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Extensive experience with project management, operations, and strategy in a higher education setting
- Develop, analyze, and implement strategic plans, with the demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and make informed decisions
- Demonstrates exceptional and professional communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects, and build consensus within a fast-paced organization
- Maintains a high level of integrity, confidentiality, diplomacy, and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s, doctoral, or other terminal degree in a relevant field
- 10 or more years of experience in higher education administration, including management of complex projects with significant large scale and considerable cost.
- Experience working directly with senior-level leadership roles and executing directives

$130,000 - $160,000 depending on qualifications and experience

All hiring rates are commensurate with relevant experience up to the advertised amount considering internal alignment.
