Faculty Position for Preclinical Sciences, Director of Educational Outcomes

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, Assessment and Curricular Affairs, the Director of Educational Outcomes provides leadership for the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of academic assessment and curriculum mapping practices within WCUCOM. This position serves as a strategic partner to academic deans, faculty, and administration by assisting in the design and implementation of a curriculum that reinforces evidence-based decision-making. The Director advises assessment policy and methodology, oversees curriculum mapping to ensure coherent alignment of learning outcomes across the full program of study, supports accreditation reporting, teaches in the DO curriculum and provides development for faculty related to assessment and curricular design.

  • Assist and WCU in the implementation of their respective Mission Statements, Statement(s) of Purpose, Institutional Plan(s), and Financial Plan(s);
  • Provide vision and institutional leadership for a comprehensive, coherent academic assessment and curriculum framework aligned with WCUCOM’s strategic plan;
  • Oversee the WCUCOM Office of Assessment;
  • Partner with administration in translating assessment and curriculum data;
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal integration of learning outcomes across all 4 years;
  • Lead and maintain an organized, auditable archive of assessment plans, curriculum maps, evidence, and improvement actions that is accessible;
  • Consult with faculty on designing effective course and program-level assessments;
  • Design and deliver relevant workshops, resources, and consultations;
  • Coordinate the preparation of assessment and curriculum-related documentation for accreditation reviews, including COCA and regional accreditation bodies;
  • Collaborate with various offices to align assessment findings with student learning and progression data;
  • Serve as a voting or ex-officio member of WCUCOM standing committees;
  • Chair or co-chair assessment related task forces and ad hoc committees as needed;
  • Participate in faculty governance activities, including Faculty Congress;
  • Support committee chairs in aligning initiatives with assessment and curricular priorities;
  • Contribute to faculty development activities by presenting at faculty retreats, orientation sessions, and other professional development forums;
  • Teach in the DO curriculum as assigned;
  • Serve as a faculty advisor to students; and
  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in education, higher education administration, educational measurement, curriculum and instruction, health policy or a closely related field.  

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in higher education, with at least three (3) years of demonstrated work in academic assessment, institutional effectiveness, or curriculum design. 

  • A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience in post-secondary setting 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience preparing formal reports and delivering professional presentations. 

  • Familiarity with assessment management platforms 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience serving as an institutional liaison or coordinator for regional or programmatic accreditation review.
  • Thorough knowledge of student learning outcomes assessment theory and practice
  • Strong skills in data analysis and the ability to present quantitative and qualitative findings clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience developing and delivering faculty professional development programming.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty and academic administrators across disciplines.
  • Record of scholarly or applied contributions to the field of assessment, institutional effectiveness, or related areas.

Physical Demands

  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer
  • Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
  • Must possess the physical ability to actively facilitate student learning in the classroom for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to maintain office hours and perform duties in an on-campus setting
