SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The 2nd Shift Production Line Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of planning, production, and the overall performance of Line Leaders. This role requires the ability to perform all Line Leader functions, while also demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate across all shifts.
Success in this position depends on sound problem-solving abilities, professionalism, and the ability to handle situations with tact and diplomacy. The Supervisor must also be highly adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
PRODUCTION LINE SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review daily reports completed by the Line Leader to verify that product-specific quality attributes meet established standards, and provide secondary approval by signing off
- Ensure that equipment is shut off at the end of each shift
- Follow up with the Line Leader to confirm that stock has been physically moved for inventory counting
- Verify inventory that was keyed and correct problems, as necessary
- Develop step-by-step instruction for all new product production as needed
- Interact with processor, Production Manager and Logistics Manager to ensure the production line is correct and plan for unexpected line down or changes needed
- Ensure that materials needed for the next shift’s scheduled production are ready
- Train and coach Line Leaders on each new product, reviewing written instructions with them to ensure all steps are clearly understood and followed consistently
- Ensure all production activities are conducted in accordance with all health, safety and environmental rules and company standards, including, but not limited to, OSHA, Quality Control, and PPE procedures
- Schedule all departmental daily activities with the Production Manager and communicate with the team
- Monitor and approve vacation time and relay coverage needs to the Production Manager
- Recommend appropriate disciplinary actions to the Production Manager to support Line Leaders and machine operators in meeting expectations and succeeding in their roles
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Relevant manufacturing or technical experience preferred
- Basic computer proficiency preferred
- Prior supervisory experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, with strong basic math skills
- Spanish language skills are a plus
- Must successfully pass a post-offer physical and drug screening
- Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Effective leadership and communication skills
