- Education Level: High School Diploma
- Certification: In lieu of certification, must demonstrate ability to troubleshoot and solve hardware and/or software problems as well as solve basic network related problems
- Experience desired: 60 hours of industry specific technical training and/or experience in PC Repair, Networking or related field. Knowledge of basic construction techniques and use of power tools.
- Other Requirements: Must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the Board of Education. Excellent organizational skills, oral and written skills as well as time management skills are necessary. Must also hold a valid state driver’s license
- Reads and understands technical information.
- Analyzes, troubleshoots and solves hardware and/or software problems in stand-alone and networked environments.
- Installs system and application software on stand-alone and networked configurations.
- Resolves telecommunications and network wiring problems and conflicts.
- Assembles, erects, positions and labels items of equipment.
- Sets up system hardware components and peripherals.
- Maintains network print services and workstation access to the network.
- Assists network users with problems using network services.
- Takes responsibility for tools and plant and test equipment.

Qualifications:
General Summary: The General Technician provides district-wide technical and resource services in the installation, configuration, operation, repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosis of network hardware, computer hardware, peripheral equipment, and software for Windows, Chrome, and Apple devices; as well as cabling and installation for access control, surveillance, and security. This individual will install and troubleshoot wireless LAN infrastructure, and local-and wide-area network cabling. Diagnose network hardware and peripheral equipment. Provide user support training and assistance. Serve as a technical resource to other department staff.
