What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Maintenance Worker position at Willard R-2 School District?
- Experience in general construction with good working knowledge of both residential and commercial applications preferred.
- Mechanical -General knowledge of related machines and tools, including their use and maintenance.
- Materials - Knowledge of materials involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures. Safety and Security
- -Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies in accordance with OSHA standards.
- Communication - Good skills with supervisors, peers, or subordinates in person, by telephone, in written form, and through e-mail and other electronic means.
- General Physical Activities- Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Ability to work on ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and roofs at various heights.
- Knowledge of building design and construction.
- Basic electrical skills including ballasts, breakers, receptacles, switches, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical problems.
- Basic plumbing skills including installing or repairing faucets, valves, pipes, and drain lines. Able to install and repair water, gas, and drain lines.
- Ability to evaluate, install, and repair roof leaks.
- Good craftsmanship with all types of woodworking, including basic trim and frame carpentry.
- Ability to pour and finish concrete and lay masonry block.
- Ability to construct and repair countertops, including installation of laminate and other materials.
- Ability to operate machinery and perform basic maintenance on construction and related equipment.
- Ability to install and repair various types of flooring, including Vinyl Composition Tile and carpet
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, develope material lists, and perform work according to the drawings.
- Understanding of safety and security procedures that meet OSHA standards.
- Good general knowledge to maintain buildings in a professional manner
- Willingness to perform other duties as requested.
