What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Services Officer position at Will County Animal Protection Services?
Duties: Under general supervision, responsible for directing and improving the field services of Will County Animal Protection Services. Assists the management team in ongoing development and success of Will County Animal Protection Services internally and in the community. Provides oversight of animal protection services officers and operations including officer response, investigations, customer service, compliance and community assistance. Will model humane treatment of the animals in our care and excellent customer service. Supervises and coordinates field services operations of WCAPS including investigations, rabies control, public education, and animal care ensuring that field services reflect the mission of WCAPS with ordinances enforced consistently, positive community relations, humane education, and voluntary compliance for animal ordinances.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Sciences, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Minimum of two years of experience of managing/supervisory experience required. Minimum of three years of experience working in animal shelters or veterinary services required. Minimum of three years of experience as animal control officer, police officer, or equivalent role. Experience and/or training in investigations, interviewing/interrogation techniques and testifying in court. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Upon employment, must accept rabies vaccination and develop a serum titer of greater than 1:16 against rabies and pass a physical evaluation prior to employment. Valid State of Illinois Driver’s License required and minimum liability automobile insurance. Must maintain a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. Must acquire Certified Euthanasia Technician training and license within 6 months of hire. Weekend hours and some evenings are required.
