Calculus Teacher, Upward Bound Program

Wilkes University invites applicants for an open High School Calculus teaching position in the Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRIO Program that provides support to participants in their preparation for college and ultimately, in their higher education pursuits.

The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the academic component of the program by teaching and tutoring high school students in calculus concepts during structured class periods. The course is designed to supplement and strengthen students' knowledge of material covered in their current high school mathematics courses. A Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, and/or a related field is required. Experience working with high school students or in a college-preparatory program is preferred.

Please note that this is a part-time, temporary position for Fall 2026 with an hourly wage. Program dates run from September 24th through December 10th, with classes held Thursday evenings from 6:30 P.M. – 8:20 P.M. The hired teacher will be responsible for a minimum of one (1), 50-minute class period each Thursday and will be informed of the schedule ahead of time.
