Wiley, a leading law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking an Entry-Level Recruiting Manager to support our Legal Talent department. The Entry-Level Recruiting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of entry-level recruiting, including law student hiring, judicial clerk hiring and management of the summer associate program.
This position is eligible to participate in the firm's flexible work program.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- When appropriate, assists with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new staff in the department
- Oversees the daily workflow of team members
- Provides staff with constructive and timely performance feedback and evaluations
- Handles disciplinary process, including escalating employment matters to the head of the department and the Senior Director of Human Resources when necessary
- Provides leadership and mentoring to staff, including on-going performance management, feedback and coaching, identification of training opportunities, and preparation of career development plans
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
On-Campus Interviewing Program
- Manage all aspects of the firm's on-campus recruiting efforts, including OCI registration, resume screening, interview scheduling, callbacks, offer dinners, job fairs, and campus outreach activities
- Develop and foster law school career services and other external relationships, including organizing and managing law school outreach initiatives
- Organize and attend all Recruiting Committee meetings/discussions/offer decisions for next summer program
- Act as liaison between the firm and candidates by personally meeting them to ensure personal contact with future summer associates
- Analyze recruiting trends and implement strategies to directly source students
Summer Program
- Oversee and implement all aspects of the Summer Associate Program, including onboarding, trainings, social events, assignments, and evaluations
- Develop and implement a communications plan and strategy with summer associates regarding arrival/departure dates, program updates, housing needs, etc.
- Provide maximum support to summer associates to ensure that their experience at the firm is of the highest quality
- Supervise and assist in preparation of offer decision meeting held by Recruiting Committee
- Participate in feedback meetings and other legal personnel concerns as requested by firm leadership/Recruiting Committee
Judicial Clerk Hiring
- Manage the recruitment process for judicial clerks, including sourcing, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
- Manage outreach efforts to former clerks to build and maintain a strong candidate pipeline
- Assist in organizing clerk-focused recruiting events, panels, and networking initiatives to enhance the firm’s visibility among prospective candidates
Associate Placement and Pre-Arrival Support
- Maintain communication strategies with prior summer associates as they move to entry-level hires
- Coordinate the fall associate practice group placement process in collaboration with practice group leaders and the Director of Legal Talent
- Serve as primary liaison to incoming associates regarding practice group assignments and placement questions
- Manage pre-arrival communications, including start dates, bar admissions, bar stipends, and relocation logistics
- Partner with the Attorney Onboarding and Integration Coordinator to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for incoming associates
Program Review and Analysis
- Develop and deliver data analysis on the firm’s entry-level hiring process including year-end reporting, analysis of candidate yields, ROI of the summer program and other analysis as needed.
- Meet with leadership to discuss data analysis and recommendations for strategies to improve recruitment for the firm
- Implement records retention policies and procedures in alignment with department guidelines
- Review and refine technology applications to best support recruitment goals
Other
- Conduct market research on competitors and maintain data and information on the competitive market and various information points
- Serve as an ambassador for the Wiley brand internally and externally through attendance at firm events, networking with attorneys and professional staff, and through attendance at industry events and conferences, as well as law school and bar association programs
- Manage and coordinate projects that support the integration and engagement of the firm’s associates through events, professional development programs and initiatives or other activities
- Meets the department’s expectations to retrieve, read and/or respond to firm and client-related e-mail messages during and outside of core business and scheduled work hours by connecting a personal mobile device (smartphone or tablet with a data plan) to the firm’s network

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- College degree preferred; high school diploma required
- Minimum of three (3) years of law firm recruiting experience
- Previous supervisory experience preferred (either formal or informal)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- An on-site presence is an essential function of this position. Remote work may be permitted in accordance with the firm’s flexible work policy and based on business needs
- Position operates in a professional office environment which is usually quiet to moderate
- Position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets
- Position requires that the employee be able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The base salary for this position is expected to be between $140,000 to $160,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
