Position Title: Volunteer Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Wildlife Care Assocation

Organization: Wildlife Care Association and Education Center

Location: 5211 Patrol Rd, McClellan, CA 95652

Salary: $20 starting

Time Commitment: Full Time/Part Time-- Seasonal Full Time (hours may vary during November to February)

Schedule: Flexible, some weekends/holidays/evenings may be required

About us

Wildlife Care Association (WCA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit,volunteer organization, dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured and orphaned wildlife.

The Volunteer Coordinator position provides core training, support and direction to Animal Technicians, Volunteers, Interns and Board Members on a day-to-day basis and plans for long term projects. This position will be directly managed by the senior Volunteer Coordinator and the Facility Manager.

Job Description

Position Summary: The Coordinator identifies volunteers and provides direction, coordination, and consultation for all facility volunteers, home rehabbers, and collaborative functions within Wildlife Care Association. Strengthens existing programs and develops new volunteer programs to provide ample opportunity to our volunteer base. Assists Director in maintaining and enhancing collaborative partnerships. Assists administrative staff with facility administrative duties.

I. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Recruitment: Be an active advocate in volunteer and intern outreach, education, training and recruitment through various in-person and digital platforms.

B. Engagement: Engage volunteers and the public through social media platforms, Newsletters and educational courses. Create videos, social media posts, and creative appreciation gifts.

C. Training: Be responsible for training, onboarding and continued education of volunteers and staff members.

D. Public Education: Assist in public education by accepting animals or answering calls from members of the community. Attendance to public events as a WCA representative may also be required.

E. Event Assistance: Help to plan, organize and schedule events for education and fundrasising on an as needed basis.

F. Communication: Maintain open, honest and positive communication with volunteers and staff members to facilitate an excellent working environment.

II. Qualifications

Experience

A. Have some job or volunteer related experience working in a non-profit and experience leading teams and/or organizations.

B. Knowledge of management principles and evaluation techniques related to programs that involve a team of volunteers

Skills

A. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and encourage others

B. Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google

Workspace

C. Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers from varying organizations and companies

D. Record keeping and documentation skills

E. Organization and planning skills, with attention to details

F. Strong written and verbal communications that creates energy and excitement

Capabilities

A. Demonstrated capability to conduct one’s self in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations

B. Ability to work well with a diverse group of staff and volunteers

C. Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities

D. Ability to work productively in an everchanging environment

III. Physical Requirements:

A. Person in this position must be able to sit, stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop and lift up to 40 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these duties.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
