Job Summary
The Payroll Specialist delivers accurate, on-time bi-weekly payroll by auditing time and pay data, processing employee changes, and resolving pay issues with a high level of service and confidentiality. This role partners with HR and Finance to support onboarding and benefits, administer tips, 401(k), and garnishments, complete required payroll tax filings, and provide payroll and labor reporting.
Essential Job Functions
- Ensure customer satisfaction through prompt, efficient, and friendly service.
- Review payroll reports for accuracy by looking for discrepancies and then process payroll within the deadlines to ensure on-time bi-weekly payments to employees via both direct deposit and live payroll checks.
- Calculate and adjust employees' tips for multiple revenue centers in accordance with the IRS Tip Rate Agreement and all internal procedures.
- Partner with Human Resources to onboard new hires, validate benefit allocations, and process terminations seamlessly.
- Must conduct accurate data review of all employee hires, rates of pay, and any status changes incurred.
- Enroll employees in time clock software as needed.
- Process all periodic tax reports such as Quarterly Federal 941’s, State Quarterly Reporting, Annual W-2s, and annual tip report filing on form 8027.
- Bi-weekly 401K payroll processes include loan and contribution reconciliations, payment submission, and discrepancy resolution.
- Resolve discrepancies and provide support for any issues related to pay checks.
- Generate final checks for terminated employees as submitted through Human Resources.
- Assist management with understanding time and attendance, scheduling and payroll procedures.
- Assist employees with payroll forms.
- Supervision of staff to include hiring, scheduling, leave approval, performance counseling, evaluation, training, etc.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll files, including personal information, salaries, etc. always.
- Maintain an organized filing system ensuring accurate filing of payroll information.
- Provide payroll verification and implement garnishment orders submitted according to established policy.
- Keep the supervisor apprised of any unusual payroll or benefit matters and refer to any matters beyond the scope of authority appropriately.
- Provide payroll reports as needed including exception reports, overtime reports, employee reports, labor reports, leave accrual, etc.
- Comply with regulatory laws, employee handbook, department policy and procedures, safety codes, etc.
- Promote a clean, safe, and healthy work environment for employees and guests. Promptly report all concerns to the Supervisor.
- Ensure that the operation of equipment, tools, and materials is handled safely.
- Promote internal guest service standards through courteous and respectful behavior.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Authority
- Payroll Clerk.
- Payroll inquiry forms.
- Income verification, and payroll correspondence.
- Payroll files.
- Two (2) years of in-house payroll experience and a payroll certification OR three (3) years of in-house payroll experience. In-house payroll experience must be for organizations with over 100 employees.
- Six (6) months supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of payroll garnishments, 401K benefits and loan processing, and benefits distribution.
- Experience and knowledge of payroll software, processing, payroll laws, and best practices.
- High School Diploma or GED or Ten (10) years of experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills that promote exceptional customer service.
- Must be proficient at multitasking in a fast-paced office environment. Teamwork experience is required.
- Computer literate with strong spreadsheet and report generating skills required.
- Effective communication skills - verbally provide instruction, respond to questions, ability to deescalate difficult situations and generate written correspondence that effectively relays information.
- Must be confident in review and analysis of payroll information, including the review of work done by others.
- Work/sit for long periods at work/computer station; perform the repetitive motion of arms, wrists, and fingers; stand and bend while performing filing. Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Exhibit a professional demeanor through appearance and by maintaining a positive attitude toward all employees and guests.
- Requires a High-Security Gaming License clearance.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Accounting office experience.
- Experience with UKG Payroll Software.
- Accounting certification or associate’s degree.
Salary : $50,000 - $70,000
