The ideal candidate will understand the different developmental needs of preschool and school-age children and will create an inclusive environment where every child feels safe, capable, and connected.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide opportunities for outdoor play, arts and crafts, building, games, reading, music, and child-led exploration.
  • Provide a supportive environment and dedicated time for school-age children to complete homework.
  • Help children build friendships, practice cooperation, solve problems, and develop independence.
  • Use inclusive practices and individualized strategies to support children with varying abilities and needs.
  • Follow children’s IFSPs, IEPs, behavior-support plans, health plans, and classroom accommodations as directed.
  • Maintain active sight-and-sound supervision and all required staff-to-child ratios.
  • Support safe and smooth transitions between preschool, school, transportation, meals, activities, and departure.
  • Assist preschool children with toileting, handwashing, meals, dressing, and other daily routines as needed.
  • Establish clear, consistent expectations using positive guidance and respectful communication.
  • Create an environment that balances active play, quiet choices, social connection, and opportunities to rest after the school day.
  • Prepare and organize activity materials and maintain welcoming interest areas.
  • Communicate respectfully and professionally with children, families, coworkers, and program leadership.
  • Accurately document attendance, meals, activities, and other required information using

Brightwheel or program records.

  • Assist with snacks, meal service, classroom organization, cleaning, and sanitizing.
  • Participate in staff meetings, required trainings, professional development, and occasional family-engagement activities.
  • Follow all Wildflower policies and Oregon child care licensing requirements.
  • Perform other classroom-related duties needed to support children and the program.
