Montessori Teacher Assistant

Position Summary
The Montessori Teacher Assistant supports Teacher Leaders in delivering a child-centered, authentic Montessori education. This role contributes to a peaceful, productive classroom by fostering independence, social-emotional growth, and a love of learning in children ages 3–6.

Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support
- Prepare, organize, and maintain Montessori materials and learning environments
- Assist in planning and implementing curriculum-based activities
Student Supervision & Support
- Ensure student safety and well-being during classroom activities, transitions, and outdoor play
- Supervise small groups, including aftercare, with age-appropriate activities
Classroom Management & Environment Preparation
- Maintain a calm, orderly environment
- Encourage positive behavior, independence, and conflict resolution
- Set up classroom materials and furniture
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of the space
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Fluent in spoken and written English
- Experience working with children
Preferred
- Montessori training or willingness to complete training
- Experience in Montessori and/or public school settings
- Comfort with technology (Chromebooks, apps, communication tools)

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Active role requiring standing, walking, bending, and sitting on the floor
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and navigate stairs and playground environments
- Occasional outdoor work in varied weather
- Flexibility for occasional evening/weekend events
Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: $16-18/hour (based on experience)
- Hours: 25-30 hours/week, Monday–Thursday (12:00 - 5:00), Friday (12:00 - 4:00)
