Landscape Laborer, Part Time
Wildflower Meadows Landscaping is in search of a responsible and dedicated landscape laborer to join our crew. The role requires someone who is able to safely install plants and small garden structures, and complete garden maintenance (no lawns). This person will preferably have previous landscaping experience and the ability to learn and apply best gardening practices.
Job responsibilities:
● Complete periodic garden maintenance and preparation for next seasons (plant trimming, stake plants, light clearing of leaves, etc.)
● Remove weeds and dead-head plants to encourage healthy plant growth
● Remove invasive plants and shrubs
● Trim/prune tree and hedge overgrowth
● Trim/edge paths, walls, and flower beds
● Minor installation of pavers, patios, walkways, raised flower beds, and other hardscaping and structures.
● Spread seed and plant trees, hedges, flowers, shrubs, and other herbaceous plants.
● Load and unload landscaping tools into/from work trailer.
● Interact professionally with clients and crew mates.
● Independently survey and assess gardens and plants health.
● Suggest and report additional maintenance needs and review daily tasks.
Qualifications and skills:
● 17 years or older
● Preferably 1–2 years of experience in gardening, landscaping or construction
● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
● Able to repeatedly lift and move 50 pounds
● Able to sit, stand, kneel, climb, and lift
● Organizational and problem-solving skills
● Strong work ethic and positive attitude
● Willing to learn and to follow instructions and safety rules
● Can work independently and as part of a team environment
● Can work on a part-time basis 2-4 days per week, ~6 hours per day, flexible schedule depending on applicant's availability
Working hours:
● Part-time, March – November
● Monday – Friday, 9 am – 4 pm, varying per project and dependent on inclement weather
● Saturday hours may be added, discretionary to crew member availability
● Time off and scheduling is very flexible
Compensation:
● $18–22 /hour (experience based)
● 45 minutes paid time for lunch
● Probatory period: After 1 month of successful and consistent performance, new hires can receive a raise
