Water Transfer Operator – Wildfire Response

Location: Western United States (travel required)  Employment Type: Full-Time

 

About Wildfire Water Solutions. Wildfire Water Solutions (https://www.wildfirewater.com/) is an innovative wildfire support company specializing in large-scale water conveyance that directly supports wildland fire suppression and community protection efforts.

 

Position Overview. We are seeking Water Transfer Operators – Wildfire Response (“Operators”) to deploy, operate, and maintain large-scale water transfer and pumping systems. Operators work in dynamic, high-risk environments and play a critical support role in supplying water to engines, hand crews, structure protection operations, and aviation resources. This position is ideal for individuals with experience in water transfer, oil and gas, wildland firefighting, utilities, or industrial field operations who are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven role.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain wildfire water transfer systems, including transfer pumps, lay-flat hose, manifolds, and fittings
  • Mobilize and demobilize equipment to and from incident locations
  • Transport equipment and personnel using pickup trucks and trailers
  • Support fire suppression operations through reliable water delivery
  • Work collaboratively with firefighters, supervisors, and incident command
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and incident action plans
  • Communicate clearly using radios, hand signals, and verbal communication
  • Use common hand and power tools to support field operations
  • Maintain professionalism, situational awareness, and sound judgment during operations

 

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to pass the NWCG Work Capacity Test (Pack Test – Arduous)

(walk 3 miles with a 45 lb pack in under 45 minutes)

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record (CDL preferred)

·       Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Ability to work long hours in extreme conditions (heat, smoke, rough terrain)
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 50–100 lbs
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively and deploy for extended assignments
  • Ability to report for dispatch within required timeframes
  • Successful completion of required training and certifications (provided as needed)
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug screening
