As the Fleet Technician, this role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting our fleet of heavy-haul trucks and specialized trailers to ensure maximum safety, reliability, and uptime.
As the fleet technician you will have interface with the drivers and operators, assisting the line manager with coordinating maintenance, maintain stock control and maintain and ensure the yard is clean and kept in a safe and optimum functional condition.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repairs on diesel trucks and heavy-haul trailers.
· Inspect and maintain brake systems, hydraulics, electrical wiring, suspensions, tires, System lubrication and safety equipment.
· Inspect trailer rigging (slings, chains etc) and ensure all rigging equipment is in good order and fit for operation. Maintain an inventory for each trailer rigging box.
· Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA and FMCSA safety standards.
· Document all maintenance and repair activities in line with company procedures and work sheets
· Inventory of all components (Spare parts and rigging)
· Assist in Call-out or breakdown recovery and emergency repairs, including field service when required.
· Collaborate with drivers, dispatch, and management to prioritize fleet needs.
· Keep the workshop and yard equipment safe, working order.
· Recommend improvements in preventative maintenance schedules to reduce downtime.
· Create and Maintain OEM / VIN manuals to all Wildcat equipment.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
· Proven experience as a yard mechanic (preferably in heavy-haul or trucking industry).
· Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. (12 to 24v vehicle)
· Ability to read technical manuals and schematics.
· Welding/fabrication skills (preferred).
· Familiarity with trailer configurations (jeeps, dollies, extendable, deck inserts, flip axles) (Preferred)
· Basic computer skills for maintenance logging and diagnostics software.
· Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
Work Conditions
· Based at Wildcat’s Melissa yard, mix of workshop and outdoor environment.
· Some travel to job sites for on-site breakdowns will be required.
· Work may involve heavy lifting, exposure to weather, and extended hours when the fleet is mobilizing/demobilizing.
· Safety-first culture: PPE provided.
· Working hours:
· 5-day rotation Monday till Friday or 6day Rotation Monday to Saturday
· 07:30am till 4pm.

Pay: $21.50 - $38.50 per hour
