Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor to join our dynamic behavioral health team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive addiction counseling and mental health support to individuals struggling with substance use issues. Your expertise will guide clients through recovery, utilizing evidence-based practices such as psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, and behavioral therapy. You will play a key role in assessing patient needs, developing personalized treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group counseling sessions. Your work will contribute to transforming lives by fostering resilience and promoting long-term recovery in a supportive environment. Duties:
- Complete comprehensive assessments.
- Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions focused on addiction recovery, mental health management, and behavioral health strategies.
- Employ motivational interviewing techniques to motivate clients toward positive behavioral change and sustained sobriety.
- Provide crisis intervention and crisis management support during emergency situations or acute mental health episodes.
- Document patient progress accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and compliance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, patient care coordination, and discharge planning.
- Engage in ongoing research and data collection efforts to improve treatment outcomes and stay current with best practices in addiction medicine and behavioral health. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid licensure or certification as an addiction counselor or clinical counselor (e.g., CADC, LPC).
- Proven experience in addiction counseling, mental health counseling, or behavioral health settings with home & community care experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychotherapy modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral therapy, crisis intervention, and social work principles.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and electronic medical records systems.
- Excellent skills in patient assessment, case management, diagnostic evaluation, and patient care planning.
- Ability to handle crisis situations effectively while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
