Hours/Duration: Approximately 20–32 hours/week through November 5, 2026;

Compensation: $25/hour; completion bonus commensurate with the date of hire and number of hours worked; cell phone stipend, travel reimbursement, accrued personal leave days
About Wild Montana Action Fund
Wild Montana Action Fund (WMAF) was established in 2019 with the goal of building the political power necessary for protecting and conserving public lands and wild places across the state by elevating the voices of Montanans who cherish our outdoor way of life.
Summary of Position:
WMAF will hire a team of canvassers this election season. This team will (1) conduct outreach to voters in order to advance public land conservation by electing public land champions to public office and protecting our nonpartisan courts and (2) assist in the implementation of a voter engagement plan to encourage Montanans to vote in support of public lands in the general election. The primary activity of these positions will be door-to-door canvassing in the Bozeman area with some travel expectations throughout. Additionally, this position will support Wild Montana Action Fund’s get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts through phone calls and texting.
These are temporary part-time or full-time positions employed by Wild Montana Action Fund.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Canvass door-to-door to talk to Montana voters about pro-public lands candidates running for elected office and issues that impact public lands, including pro-democracy reform.
- Implement all aspects of voter engagement organizing in Southwestern Montana, including signature gathering for ballot initiatives, collecting pledge-to-vote postcards; educating young people about public lands issues; and conducting GOTV activities such as phone banks, text banks, and door-to-door and event canvassing.
- Perform regular data entry and data quality control.
- Assist staff by informing election-related content and implementing communication strategies.
Qualifications/Abilities:
- A commitment to the mission and vision of Wild Montana Action Fund
- Previous organizing or canvassing experience preferred
- Ability to productively work with a variety of groups, individuals, and personalities
- Basic computer proficiency is required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work outside in potentially inclement weather
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel outside of Bozeman for overnight travel
- Valid United States driver’s license and ability to be insured are required
