What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm & Facilities Maintenance Coordinator (Part-Time) position at Wild Hearts Equine Therapy?
Pay: $22.00/hour, part-time, 1099 independent contractor
Schedule: Flexible schedule, typically Monday–Friday during normal business hours, with occasional weekend hours as needed.
Reports to: Jessica Fry, Executive Director
We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and self-motivated individual to help maintain and improve our farm facilities. This position plays an important role in supporting our equine-assisted therapy programs by ensuring that our grounds, equipment, buildings, fencing, and infrastructure remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
Responsibilities
- Identify maintenance needs and recommend solutions to improve safety, functionality, and efficiency throughout the facility.
- Construct and repair farm structures, including sheds, run-in shelters, barns, and other facilities.· Install, repair, and maintain fencing and gates.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on farm facilities, including barns, shelters, the covered arena, restroom facilities, gates, doors, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and other infrastructure.
- Perform general farm maintenance, repairs, and improvement projects.· Assist with grounds maintenance, including trail upkeep, drainage improvements, and facility appearance.
- Help coordinate existing maintenance volunteers and volunteer work teams during farm improvement projects.
- Schedule maintenance, repair, and facility improvement projects.·
- Obtain estimates and coordinate with outside contractors when specialized services are required.
- Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe condition.
Qualifications
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Experience operating tractors and heavy equipment.
- Construction, carpentry, or related trade experience required.· Experience installing and repairing fencing.
- General knowledge of building maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and repair work.
- Ability to independently plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.·
- Experience coordinating volunteers, crews, or project teams.·
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Comfortable working around horses (horse experience is helpful but not required).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working on farms, ranches, or equine facilities.
- Knowledge of basic equipment maintenance and repair.
- Experience with small building construction and site improvement projects.
- Familiarity with safety practices related to heavy equipment and construction work.
