Wild Birds Unlimited of Syosset is hiring!
We are a proudly woman-owned and operated small business dedicated to helping people connect with nature through backyard bird feeding. We are looking for a friendly, reliable, people-focused team member who enjoys talking with customers and has a natural ability to sell.

Position Details
- Part-time: 15–20 hours per week
- Weekend availability is a MUST
- Additional hours may be available during busy periods, holidays, and seasonal times
- Primarily based at Syosset, with occasional opportunities to work at Oakdale and East Setauket
What You'll Do
- Greet customers and create a warm, welcoming experience
- Start conversations with strangers, ask questions, and listen to what customers need
- Recommend products and solutions based on each customer's needs and budget
- Cross-sell complementary products when appropriate
- Multitask and assist multiple customers at once while keeping everyone feeling heard and helped
- Build relationships with customers and provide excellent service
- Carry products, including 20 lb bags of bird seed, to customer vehicles
- Operate our computer-based POS system
- Stock merchandise and keep the store clean and welcoming
What We're Looking For
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable talking with strangers
- Sales-minded and confident making recommendations
- Able to recognize opportunities to cross-sell without being pushy
- Able to multitask and stay calm when the store gets busy
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Weekend availability is a MUST
- Previous retail or restaurant experience is helpful, but not required
- Comfortable being on your feet throughout your shift
- Able to lift 30 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable using computers and learning POS systems
- Curious about birds or excited to learn — we provide training
