Wild Apple Eye Care is a private family-owned optometry practice looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Licensed Optician to join our Optical team.

Your job will be to use your knowledge of eyewear and eye for style to provide exceptional customer service and guide patients in finding the perfect pair of glasses to complement their unique features and preferences as well as their prescription.
A Connecticut Optician's license is required for this Licensed Optician position, but we are also seeking an unlicensed member of our Optical Team as well. The pay for this position will be negotiable based on experience and maintaining an active Connecticut Optician's license.
The duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Assist patients with selecting frames according to style and color
- Contributing to a warm and welcoming health care environment for patients and co-workers
- Communicating by phone, text and e-mail about patient appointments, orders, insurance, and billing
- Selecting and explaining the proper lens offerings and lens treatments based on the patient's needs and prescription
- Ordering patient's eyewear with accuracy
- Edging and finishing lenses
- Inspecting, checking in, and dispensing eyewear
- Maintain a clean and organized showroom floor
- Ordering and maintaining supply levels
- Adjusting and repairing eyewear
- General clerical duties, including accurate data entry with a variety of software programs
- Applicant will also be crossed trained in other areas of the office
The skills and qualifications required for this position include:
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on building rapport and exceeding expectations
- Previous experience in optical or health care settings is preferred but not required - we do onsite training
- Prior experience in retail sales a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective focus and attention to detail on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Sound judgment in protecting patient privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic math skills
- Professional attitude and appearance
Work Schedule is Monday-Friday with no evenings or weekends. The location for this position will primarily be our Colchester office but may include some days in our Hebron office at 34 Main St. Hebron, CT 06248.
