Position Summary

The Director of Industrial Sales is a hands on “working manager” responsible for Sales and Customer Service for APTP’s Industrial customers. This role partners closely with the leadership team to shape the strategic direction of the Industrial business and is accountable for translating that strategy into effective execution. The Director leads a geographically distributed team that includes Sales Managers, an Inside Sales Team Manager, Inside Sales Representatives, Customer Account Specialists, and an Industrial Product Manager. Success in this role requires the ability to seamlessly shift between high-level strategic planning and day-to-day tactical decision-making. The ideal candidate will effectively balance customer expectations with business objectives, demonstrate strong ownership of results, and drive performance to meet or exceed established targets and metrics.

This position reports directly to the General Manager and will serve as a contributing member of the Senior Leadership Team, participating in the decision-making process concerning the direction and future growth of the company.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate APTP Industrial sales functions.
  • Grow business with existing customers. Develop business with new customers.
  • Recommend and identify new products.
  • Grow existing reseller and distribution channels.
  • Expand in existing and new geographic regions.
  • Evaluate new business opportunities and provide guidance on pricing.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance against goals, generate accurate forecasts and monthly reports with analytics that track efforts and report the metrics of success.
  • Define and direct the sales strategy, including implementing sales initiatives that are aligned with growing the company’s top and bottom line within existing and new markets.
  • Manage sales personnel including but not limited to career planning, goal setting, compensation, and all related HR matters.
  • Define sales initiatives for the sales team, including metrics to measure success, and oversee implementation.
  • Develop and communicate monthly orders and sales targets.
  • Provide input into budget for all sales and marketing activities and participate in the business planning as required by the General Manager of business.
  • Visit potential and existing customers and maintain a “personal” engagement with their personnel.
  • Provide strategic oversight of NPI and production timelines, influencing the product introduction roadmap while maintaining strong, transparent communication with customers.
  • Maintain customer and account sales history records.
  • Participate as part of the fabric of Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Operations, and Executive Management.
  • Participate in the development of new project proposals.
  • Represent the company at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
  • Supervise the preparation, issuance, and delivery of sales materials, exhibits, and promotion programs.
  • Promote positive relations internally and externally with partners, vendors, and distributors.
  • Recommend and administer policies and procedures to enhance operations.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other Amphenol businesses
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience/Background:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the sensor industry or other similar industries
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level sales, product management or sales engineering position with demonstrated revenue growth and new business capture.
  • Experience in the Industrial vibration CBM market preferred.
  • Experience with OEM, stocking distribution, reseller networks, and direct sales.
  • Experience with Marketing and MARCOM activities
  • Experience in leading and managing small and large teams both within and outside a business
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Position is 100% remote and requires the ability to travel to conduct business more than 60% of the time. Travel to the manufacturing plant as needed, as well as both domestic and international travel is essential to meet the requirements of the position.
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a U.S. person or protected individual within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines U.S. persons and protected individuals as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), U.S. Temporary Resident, Political Asylee or Refugee.

Education

  • MBA, Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
  • Both strong technical understanding and business acumen are required.

Office / Sedentary Requirements:

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66% each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift to 10 pounds.
