WilCo Guide is a local media company serving Williamson County, Texas.
We operate several local brands, including Leander Scoop, Round Rock Scoop, WilCo Seniors, and WilCo Grind. Across these brands, we reach 30,000 local email subscribers and tens of thousands more people on social media.
We have built the audience. Now we are hiring someone full-time to help build the revenue engine.
This role is for someone local, ambitious, and willing to do the hard work of turning attention into revenue.
About the Role
We are hiring a full-time Outside Sales Representative to sell advertising and sponsorships to local businesses across Williamson County.
You will be responsible for finding prospects, reaching out, building relationships, pitching sponsorship opportunities, following up, and closing deals.
This is not a job where you wait for leads to come in. You will be expected to create your own opportunities through calls, emails, in-person visits, networking events, referrals, and consistent follow-up.
The right person will not just sell ads. They will help us build the local business side of WilCo Guide.
What You’ll Sell
You will sell local advertising and sponsorship packages, including:
- Newsletter sponsorships
- Sponsored business features
- Social media promotions
- Local business spotlights
- Event sponsorships
- Sponsored content packages
- Monthly local partner packages
You will work with restaurants, home service businesses, real estate professionals, medical offices, local retailers, gyms, financial advisors, professional services, and other businesses that want to reach Williamson County residents.

WilCo Guide is part of a larger local media business. We operate local newsletter and media brands around the country, run a national education brand in the local media space, and work with other operators building similar businesses in other markets.
If you succeed here, there may be opportunities beyond Williamson County, including helping with larger sales strategy, other markets, events, content, partnerships, and future expansion opportunities.
You will also learn a lot: local advertising, sales, content marketing, newsletters, social media, AI, events, business development, and how modern local media companies are built.
For the right person, this can grow into a leadership role and potentially the General Manager role for WilCo Guide.
There is also an opportunity to become more visible in the community and potentially become part of the face of the brand through events, social media, business interviews, and local relationships.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for a hungry, high-energy person who wants a real opportunity.
You should be:
- Local to Williamson County or nearby
- Available full-time
- Comfortable calling and visiting local businesses
- Confident talking to business owners
- Willing to prospect and follow up consistently
- Organized enough to manage a sales pipeline
- Interested in business, marketing, media, content, events, and AI
- Excited by performance-based upside
- Self-motivated without needing constant direction
- Willing to do uncomfortable work until the system starts working
Sales experience is preferred, but local media sales experience is not required.
This could be a strong fit for someone with experience in outside sales, advertising sales, real estate, mortgage, insurance, local marketing, fundraising, events, chamber/networking groups, or small business ownership.
Who This Is Not For
This is not a casual part-time role.
This is not a work-from-home-only job.
This is not for someone who wants to hide behind email.
This is not for someone who needs a perfect script, perfect training program, or guaranteed leads before taking action.
This is not for someone who says they are entrepreneurial but avoids sales, rejection, and follow-up.
The first 30–60 days will require real outbound effort. You will be building lists, making calls, walking into businesses, attending events, getting ignored, hearing no, and learning quickly.
That is the job.
The upside comes from doing that work well.
Compensation
This is a draw uncapped commission role.
We are open to a ramp draw for the right person. The main upside comes from performance.
A strong operator in this role should be targeting $100,000–$150,000 once the revenue engine is working.
This is a role where your income can grow with the business you help build.
Responsibilities
- Prospect local businesses across Williamson County
- Call, email, visit, and follow up with potential advertisers
- Attend networking events, chamber events, and local business events
- Pitch newsletter, social, content, and sponsorship packages
- Close new advertising and sponsorship deals
- Build long-term relationships with local business owners
- Track prospects, conversations, follow-ups, and closed deals
- Help improve our sponsorship packages and sales process
- Work directly with ownership to grow WilCo Guide
- Help identify new revenue opportunities over time
Requirements
- Must live in or near Williamson County, Texas
- Must be available full-time
- Must be willing to meet local businesses in person
- Must be comfortable with outbound sales
- Must be organized and reliable
- Must communicate clearly
- Must be comfortable using basic sales/CRM tools
- Must have strong personal drive
