Description: The dismantler is responsible for the systematic processing of end-of-life vehicles, including the safe evacuation of all fluids in compliance with environmental regulations and the removal of components based on material composition, resale potential, and recyclability within the automotive supply chain. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and/or formal training in the automotive industry.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Ensures safe and efficient removal, inventory and quality control of removed parts.*
- Follows Dismantling Checklist while performing daily tasks. *
- Removes and properly disposes of fluids including oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, power brake fluid, gasoline, diesel, and antifreeze.*
- Evacuates refrigerant from vehicle air conditioning systems.*
- Removes mercury switches from vehicles equipped with these devices.*
- Removes and properly handles battery and catalytic converter.*
- Removes core parts that are not inventoried.*
- Properly tags and identifies parts with stock numbers.*
- Verifies part condition and damage against inventory report using ARA damage locators.*
- Resolves part interchange numbers on dismantler report.*
- Stocks parts designated to go onto warehouse racks inside and outside.*
- Ensures completion of each vehicle dismantling procedures before starting another vehicle.*
- Maintains a work area that is clean and safe.*
- Maintains tools and equipment and regularly inspects for problems.*
- Keep accurate dismantling reports.
- Turns in dismantling reports after each vehicle.*
- Follows all safety policies and procedures.*
Qualifications:

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or knowledge in the automotive industry.
Certificates and Licenses:
Certified in refrigerant evacuation. Forklift certification - forklift training and certification available.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear. While doing this job the employee will be primarily on their feet for long periods of time. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. For heavier merchandise lifting devices and/or assistance is required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. This is a smoke free environment for safety reasons.
