About the Role

WideNet Consulting Group is partnering with a client organization to identify a Procurement Operations & Process Improvement Specialist to lead a high-visibility transformation initiative within their procurement function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional who thrives in complex, matrixed environments and enjoys driving measurable change through influence rather than authority. This role provides dedicated leadership and hands-on execution support for a procurement organization undergoing significant transformation. You'll drive process improvements, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and lead operational excellence initiatives — partnering closely with procurement leadership, buyers, accounts payable, third-party support resources, and business/supply chain stakeholders across the company. The ideal candidate brings a strong ownership mentality and builds credibility through collaboration, communication, and results.

Responsibilities

Reduce Off-Contract & Non-Compliant Spend

  • Identify sources of spend leakage and non-PO purchasing activity
  • Design and execute remediation strategies with procurement and business partners
  • Build governance and reporting mechanisms to sustain long-term compliance

Drive Down Match Exceptions

  • Partner with buyers to resolve invoice/PO match exceptions and diagnose root causes
  • Implement sustainable fixes across funding management, receiving, invoicing, and requisition quality
  • Develop training and documentation that prevents recurring issues

Optimize the Procurement Operating Model

  • Clarify roles, workflows, and escalation paths between internal buyers and third-party support
  • Improve consistency and accountability across procurement support activities
  • Design scalable processes that support the organization's future state

Build a Procurement Center of Excellence

  • Lead roadshows and training sessions to build stakeholder understanding of procurement policy and process
  • Increase compliance through education and partnership, not enforcement
  • Position procurement as a trusted, strategic business advisor

Lead Change & Track Results

  • Run meetings and working sessions independently across finance, AP, and business stakeholders
  • Develop communication plans that explain the why, what, and how of new processes
  • Build dashboards and metrics to track adoption and measure impact

Qualifications

  • 7 years of experience in procurement operations, procure-to-pay (P2P), supply chain, or procurement excellence roles

Required Skills

  • Track record of improving procurement compliance and operational performance
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives with measurable, documented outcomes
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills — able to drive change without formal authority
  • Experience developing SOPs, training materials, and operational documentation
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Background in indirect procurement and shared services support environments
  • P2P and accounts payable process expertise
  • Experience improving spend compliance and reducing match exceptions
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft, Oracle, or similar ERP platforms

Preferred Skills

  • Lean/Six Sigma or continuous improvement experience preferred
  • Prior consulting or transformation program experience a plus
