Fitter

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
• Measure, cut, fit, tack, and weld structural and fabricated metal components.
• Set up and operate MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding equipment as required.
• Use torches, grinders, plasma cutters, saws, drills, and other fabrication equipment.
• Position and align parts using clamps, fixtures, levels, squares, and measuring tools.
• Perform tack welding and final welding to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Inspect completed welds and fabricated assemblies for quality and accuracy.
• Grind, clean, and prepare welds and metal surfaces as needed.
• Make adjustments to components to ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Follow welding procedures, specifications, and applicable quality standards.
• Maintain welding machines, tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Identify defects or problems and make necessary corrections.
• Work with supervisors, engineers, and other fabricators to complete projects.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a Fitter Welder, Welder Fabricator, Structural Welder, or similar position.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Experience with MIG, TIG, and/or stick welding.
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication and fitting techniques.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to accurately measure, fit, and align components.
• Good understanding of welding safety and shop safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to lift, move, and position heavy materials safely.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Welding certifications such as AWS D1.1 or equivalent.
• Experience with structural steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or carbon steel.
• Experience using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment.
• Fabrication or manufacturing experience.
• Ability to perform basic weld inspections and understand weld quality requirements.
  

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials with assistance or mechanical equipment.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
• Must be able to wear required PPE, including welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
