What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recycling Coordinator position at Wicomico County?
The Recycling Coordinator is responsible for administering the County’s recycling program including marketing, selling and promoting of recyclable materials. Emphasis will be placed on outreach to businesses, agencies, municipalities, schools, colleges and civic groups to encourage recycling efforts and achieve our recycling goals.
Duties:
- Manage and promote the County's recycling program through public outreach, education, and community partnerships.
- Market recyclable materials and coordinate sales in accordance with County purchasing procedures.
- Organize and promote recycling events and initiatives to increase public participation.
- Collect and maintain recycling data and prepare reports to support program goals.
- Conduct presentations, facility tours, and respond to public inquiries regarding recycling services.
- Assist with the implementation of County solid waste, recycling, and emergency management plans.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; Associate's degree in Business or a related field preferred. Five years of experience in solid waste operations. Experience in marketing, sales, public outreach, or a related field. Knowledge of MDE, DOT, MOSHA, and OSHA regulations related to solid waste operations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently, solve problems, and build positive relationships with the public and community partners. Ability to obtain or maintain required certifications, including CPR/First Aid, Fire Extinguisher, and Homeland Security training. Must be available for on-call emergency response as needed. Valid Driver’s License. Ability to successfully pass background check and drug screening.
