What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Officer I position at Wicomico County?
Correctional Officer I is an entry level position that requires successful completion of the Entry Level Correctional Academy. Duties Include:
- Supervision and Monitoring of inmates in housing units and inmates assigned to special confinement.
- Counting of inmates at regular and irregular intervals and keeping a total count of inmates and their location.
- Conducting random housing unit and perimeter security checks of the institution.
- Performing regular pat searches of inmates.
- Enforcing the rules and regulation of the department.
- Preparing written reports, documenting post activities, and completing other paperwork as required.
- Shift work including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age or older; Must possess a high school diploma or GED that is recognized by the MD Board of Education; Must be a US Citizen or Resident Alien; Must successfully pass a background investigation; Must successfully pass drug screening; Must successfully pass a physical examination; Must successfully pass psychological testing; and Must possess a Valid Driver's License.
Pay: $50,000.00 per year
