General Function
Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager - Operations, the Assistant Facilities Manager - Operations performs district-based duties and supervisory work in planning, organizing, training, hiring, onboarding staff and supervises community use and rental of school facilities. Coordinates and schedules maintenance visits with local and state organizations and prepares reports and helps coordinate operations staff and maintenance on work orders and any other duties assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in facility maintenance or related field with at least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience. Ten (10) years of directly related experience may be substituted for a degree, if applicable.
- Advanced knowledge of computer programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites
- Supervise and coordinate daily operations, including scheduling and oversight of assistant managers, building service managers, logistics staff, and event coordination.
- Support hiring, onboarding, payroll timekeeping, and training for operations staff, including orientation, compliance documentation, and equipment/uniform distribution.
- Plan and manage staffing and logistics for after-school events and facility rentals, ensuring setup meets all requirements.
- Provide ongoing training and direction to operations staff; ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and Safe Schools requirements.
- Monitor work orders, equipment repairs, and warranty agreements; assist with inspections and related reporting (e.g., IAC, state/local requirements).
- Coordinate summer maintenance and improvement projects in collaboration with facilities leadership.
- Respond to emergencies and critical incidents (e.g., weather events, facility damage) to support school operations and continuity.
- Maintain and review operational records, including inspection reports, schedules, training documentation, and equipment logs.
- Direct custodial teams on special projects, including floor care and post-construction/renovation preparation.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend personnel actions, including coaching and discipline.
- Perform other duties as assigned and maintain regular, reliable attendance.
