The Role

As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will build, manage, and grow a book of carrier relationships to cover Wicker Park Logistics freight. You will be the link between our customers and the carriers who move their goods. Your job is to find reliable capacity, negotiate competitive rates, and develop the kind of carrier loyalty that keeps trucks showing up when the market gets tight.


This role is a fit for someone who is competitive, persistent, and genuinely good with people. You will work closely with our operations and account management teams to make sure loads move on time, every time.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Prospecting, onboarding, and developing carrier relationships across multiple freight modes (dry van, flatbed, reefer, specialized)
  • Negotiating rates and booking freight with a focus on margin, service quality, and carrier retention
  • Managing daily load coverage and capacity sourcing through load boards, carrier databases, and your own network
  • Building a reusable carrier book that reduces reliance on spot market and increases lane consistency
  • Communicating with carriers on pickup and delivery updates, load requirements, and issue resolution
  • Tracking market conditions, lane rates, and seasonal capacity trends to stay ahead of pricing shifts
  • Collaborating with account managers and dispatchers to align carrier capacity with customer commitments
  • Meeting and exceeding daily and weekly KPIs including coverage ratio, margin targets, carrier adds, and call volume


What We Are Looking For

  • 6 months of experience in carrier sales, freight brokerage, or a related logistics role (more is great, hustle matters most)
  • Familiarity with load boards (DAT, Truckstop, Trucker Tools) and TMS platforms
  • Strong phone presence and the ability to build rapport quickly with owner-operators and fleet managers
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment where your effort directly drives your earnings
  • Solid negotiation skills and the ability to think on your feet when capacity is tight
  • Attention to detail on load documents, rate confirmations, and carrier compliance
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and coachable
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Results and work ethic speak louder.


Nice to Have

  • Experience with chemical or hazmat freight
  • Existing carrier relationships in the Midwest or national lanes
  • Familiarity with carrier safety scoring (FMCSA, Carrier411, Highway)
  • Prior experience at a 3PL or freight brokerage
