JOB SUMMARY:
Business Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration and overall operation of WTIDC Office and Commercial Businesses. Provides supervision for WTIDC Office staff and Commercial Business Managers. Responsible for organizing and coordinating the project activities of the WTIDC office.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly responsible for overseeing day-to-day office duties, assisting staff with any questions or issues that arise. Provides direction on the completion of assignments.
Directs and conducts all business-related matters of the WTIDC as authorized by the WTIDC Board, and in accordance with the WTIDC Act and each company’s standard operating procedures.
Oversees the management of WTIDC’s commercial businesses and properties. Works with WTIDC Chairman on the acquisition of properties. Works with WTIDC Board and team on new commercial business ventures. Meets with interested parties regarding development and reports information back to WTIDC Board.
In compliance with each Company’s personnel policies and procedures, performs all duties associated with being a Personnel Manager, including policy development and update, employment, staff evaluations, approval of time and leave, payroll duties, and disciplinary actions.
Ensures that all company and financial reports are prepared and submitted on a timely basis. Oversees and assists with the completion of company audits. Updates WTIDC Board on all activities.
Prepares responses to Tribal Council and Tribal membership inquiries, as requested via the Wichita Executive Committee.
Responsible for handling all banking relationships and transactions. Approves purchases, reviews financials and monitors expenses, reviews net income of companies, and approves new vendors.
Works with I.T. for each company’s internet issues and access. Includes troubleshooting, assisting with submitting work orders, and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Interface with legal team on behalf of WTIDC.
Supervises staff and implements personnel functions including training, evaluating work performance, and disciplinary actions. Staff includes WTIDC Office and any new business ventures.
Works with company managers to resolve issues that arise. Discusses issues with the manager and gives approval for resolution or solution. Works with manager on ways to reduce overhead costs.
Represents the WTIDC on an as-needed basis and when required to do so by the WTIDC Board.
Performs other duties related to the position as necessary or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field from an accredited College or University.
Five (5) years of relevant experience in business development, retail management, commercial real estate, real estate development transactions in public or private organizations.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Understand principles, practices, and procedures related to business transactions including partnerships, acquisitions, leases, and applicable laws and regulations.
Professional experience in real estate development, business development, marketing, and business assessment practices.
Knowledgeable in all areas of Personnel Management and possess the necessary skills and ability to work in areas of human relations.
Experience interpreting and applying laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances related to Indian land desirable.
Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to interact with officials, funding agencies, and other individuals regarding economic development matters.
Be computer literate and able to operate software for letter processing and spreadsheets.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Sedentary, sitting, walking, occasional lifting from the floor, and bending. Frequent near vision use for reading and computer use. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment such as a computer, printer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, photographic equipment, etc. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License. Subject to a background check. Must sign a Confidentiality Agreement and abide by confidentiality regarding WTIDC matters.
