Reports To: Director of Plant Operations
Location: Rhatigan Student Center, 1845 Fairmount St. Wichita, KS 
 
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
 Provides the general maintenance and upkeep needs of Rhatigan Student Center (RSC) building, equipment, and other RSC property. Requires a highly motivated person able to work with little supervision and strong troubleshooting, organizational and critical thinking skills. The position may require giving guidance to a student helper.  


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repair or service heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to improve efficiency, such as by changing filters, cleaning ducts. 
  • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and/or schematic diagrams.
  • Perform facility repairs which may include repairing laminates, flooring, wall coverings, furniture, sheet rock, door hardware, windows, and plaster installation and repair.
  • Oversee maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, machinery, or equipment.
  • Navigate and use the building control system to change temperatures, create schedule, turn equipment on and off.
  • Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing or mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains.
  • Repair plumbing equipment, such as faucet flow restrictors, urinals, and toilets.
  • Install or replace locks and locking devices in building.

Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or G.E.D. 1-3 years related experience preferred. A valid state driver’s license may be required if job duties require the use of motorized vehicles. Working knowledge and awareness of OSHA regulations and building codes requirements.


PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Job duties require physical abilities including manual dexterity and trunk strength. Must be able to use repetitive wrist, hand and finger movements to type and move objects regularly. Regular lifting and carrying plywood, dimensional lumber and other building materials, tile, grout, and glue.  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Regular attendance is necessary and essential function.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Exposed to loud noise levels. Frequently required to talk and listen to other individuals. Ability to operate noisy tools, table saws, drills, and circular saws. Occasionally, exposed to seasonal conditions including summer and winter with heat, snow, ice and temperatures ranging from -10 below to 100 degrees.



8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday - Friday; rare and occasional weekends
40 Hours per Week

Salary : $19 - $20
