Job Title: Crewperson 3 - Mechanical Systems (Filters)
Position Function: The Crewperson 3 is directly responsible to the Supervisor. Possess the necessary knowledge and be able to demonstrate worthy skills in the designated trade. Ability to carry out assignments and perform excellent quality work with minimum supervision. Crewperson is directly responsible to the Supervisor and the filter crew leader. Must be able to work on ladders and/or man lifts in high conditions.
Employee Punctuality And Appearance
Equipment: The employee must demonstrate the ability to use various equipment assigned to the job position as needed. This position may require the ability to use iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Employees must always comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use. Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment. Other tools that may be used may include but not limited to : band saw, drill press, metal shear, electric drill, sawzall, recovery machine, ladders (6 foot, 8 foot, and 24 foot extensions), 2 ton press, chain fall, metal lathe, tin snips, metal punch press, metal brake machines welder, porta band saw, oxygen and acetylene torches, adjustable wrenches, refrigerant manifold set, single man lift, 1000lb material lift, sand blaster, basic hand tools, clamps, power tools, pipe cutter, pipe threader, Pro press and van.
Travel: Travel between schools and central offices is required.

- In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave
- Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator

- Frequent (3-6 hours): Standing, walking, rotation of head/ neck, flexion (head bend down & had bend back), twisting at the waist, and forceful gripping

- Ability to communicate both verbally and written in order to communicate with others inside and outside of the organization for the purpose of giving and obtaining information
- Ability to communicate effectively with a Supervisor when their discretion is needed

- Cooperate with other employees and maintain good public relations inside and outside of his/her assignment
- Display willingness to be trained in all phases of the assignment and increase his/her skills, thus, qualifying for advancement
- Possess a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service
- Possess superior knowledge of procedures, materials and equipment utilized in the designated area while displaying good workmanship, planning, and leadership
- Support the organizational goals, the mission of the School Service Center and the district
- Work cooperatively with others and assist in maintaining open lines of communication
- Work directly or indirectly under the Supervisor

- Maintain and service the equipment
- Change filters, clean coils, clean boiler
- Ability to perform all tasks and work the hours required
- Accept responsibility for all tools, supplies, and materials
- Attendance at required meetings and in-services
- Change out the filters in all the district HVAC equipment
- Clean the heating and cooling coils when required
- Clean out all the floor mounted unit vents and fan coils bi-annually
- Clean the chiller condenser coils during the cooling season when needed
- During the summer months, they will assist the department Technicians in the installation and maintenance of all the district HVAC equipment
- Observe all safety rules in their respected field.
- Assist in maintaining all the HVAC equipment in the district.
- Assist in the service and repair of the district equipment.
- Is encouraged to study for their journeyman license exam and achieve a passing grade of 75% or better.
- A High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Maintain appropriate licenses and certifications including a valid Kansas driver's license at all times throughout employment
- This position is a second shift position during the school year.
- The hours will be from 2:00 pm until 12:30 am, Monday through Thursday
- During the summer hours, this will be a first shift position from approximately June 1st through August 15th.
