The City of Wichita Falls Police Department is currently seeking experienced, motivated law enforcement professionals to join our team as Lateral Police Officers. We are committed to public safety, community engagement, and providing exceptional service to our citizens.
Hiring Incentive

Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Starting pay based on years of service – hourly rate range is currently $35.10 to $40.85 per hour

Minimum Requirements
- Must currently hold a Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Must be in good standing with TCOLE
- Must meet all minimum standards for Texas peace officers
- Valid driver’s license
- U.S. citizenship (or meet eligibility requirements)
- No disqualifying criminal history
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior law enforcement experience with a municipal, county, or state agency
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to community-oriented policing
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
Duties & Responsibilities
- Enforce federal, state, and local laws
- Respond to calls for service, including emergencies and non-emergency incidents
- Conduct traffic enforcement and accident investigations
- Prepare detailed reports and testify in court proceedings
- Engage with the community to build trust and partnerships
