behind-the-scenes work supports public events and library programming at
the Advanced Learning Library. The City of Wichita is seeking a
dependable and service-oriented **Custodial & Event Setup Assistant** to
help ensure the library remains a clean, safe, and welcoming space for
the community.
This is a physically active position that includes the regular setup and
teardown of tables, chairs, and event equipment, staging furniture, and
preparing basic audio/visual systems. In addition to supporting events
and library programs, the role includes daily custodial duties both
inside and outside the building, such as cleaning restrooms, emptying
trash, sweeping, mopping, and maintaining entryways and public spaces.
Custodial & Event Setup Assistant collaborate with library staff and
interact with the public to help ensure events run smoothly and spaces
remain in top condition. This position is essential to the librarys
mission of providing a safe and engaging environment for lifelong
learning and civic engagement. Success in this role requires
reliability, physical stamina, attention to detail, and a strong

**Requirements of Work**
- Ability to lift up to 4 feet and empty containers weighing up to 40
- Ability to lift and move large, sometimes bulky objects weighing up
- Ability to push carts with twenty pound resistance
- Ability to climb and work on scaffolding
- Ability to work in a small confined space for short periods of time
- Ability to interpret floor plans for room sets
- Ability to shovel a ten pound load and lift up to four feet high
- Ability to bend, twist, turn, pull and stretch as required in
