What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Software Engineer, Product position at Whop?
About Whop
Whop is the ultimate virtual market that lets people earn money by starting shops and creating content. We deliver $1.3B per year in income to people across the globe and have more than 1M monthly users.
About you
We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to shape the future of the Whop web product. This is not a generic frontend role. The only candidates we will consider are those who have:
- Production React/TypeScript experience at consumer scale. You’ve shipped interfaces used by thousands or millions of people, not internal tools, not prototypes but real products under real pressure.
- A portfolio of polished, user-facing work. You know what it means to obsess over load times, pixel-perfect details, and smooth interactions because you’ve already done it.
- A track record of owning features end-to-end, from concept through release, and keeping them clean over time.
- Ability to flex into Rails when needed (APIs, DB schemas) and collaborate across the stack.
- A bias for simplicity, speed, and deleting things that no longer serve the product.
What does the role look like?
The customer you are building for is our 1M monthly users who rely on Whop’s web product every day.
- Build and refine beautiful, fast, and reliable experiences across the Whop app.
- Own full features that make their way into our weekly change logs.
- Work closely with founders, designers, and engineers to turn ideas into shipped product.
- Prototype quickly, ship fast, and sweat the details.
- Create reusable architecture patterns that let us move faster later.
- Write clean React/TypeScript, intuitive APIs, and occasionally flex into Rails.
