Summary

We are seeking a mindful and caring Reggio Emilia floater teacher to support our toddler and pre-school classrooms (Toddler and Pre-K 3/4), stepping in where needed, while upholding the Reggio-inspired philosophy.

Responsibilities include supporting daily routines, assisting with activities based on student interests, fostering relationships with children and families, and contributing to a positive, flexible, and responsive classroom environment.

This floater will welcome early morning students (8:30a) and transition them into our class or outdoor spaces, also cover planning/training times of Lead-Teachers and support during our monthly market days (by connecting with parents and community). We will need your help plating our lunches for children, taking children to the bathroom and work all around as support to our lead teacher(s) in the early learning classrooms.

Bilingual spanish is a big plus. Experience with Toddlers/Pre-schoolers (2-3-4 yo's) a must. One Year of solid experience in a classroom required.

Duties

Provide classroom support: Step in as a support for our toddler or preschool classrooms as required to maintain a consistent learning environment and staff-child ratios.

Uphold Reggio Emilia principles: Help implement activities that are child-centered and emerges from the children's interests, using observation, open-ended questions, and documentation.

Facilitate learning: Engage with children through active participation, asking questions to further their understanding, and supporting their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Maintain a nurturing environment: Ensure the classroom is a positive, safe, and clean space, and build strong relationships with children and their families.

Assist with daily routines: Help with necessary care-giving tasks, such as toileting, diapering, and clean up, to support the lead teachers and classroom staff. We also ask that our floaters help with plating of lunches and lunch routines.

Collaborate with staff: Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff, take direction from lead teachers, and contribute to a positive and professional atmosphere. We are very mindful and caring and we wish for our team member to carry the same values. No job is too little, and we work in a strong bond of sisters, where we appreciate each other, and back each other.

Adaptability and flexibility: Be prepared to shift between different classrooms and assist with various tasks as needs arise, often time with little advance notice. Be available part OR full-time. We are moving into our busy season and are at capacity, so we are needing more hands to support our flow on our almost 6-acre campus space with gardens, creek bed on site, and lots of space to be outdoors and to adventure out.

Requirements

Interest in and understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach and other child development theories.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities.

Physical ability to perform care-giving tasks and supervise children both indoors and outdoors.

CPR and First Aid certification is required.

Food Handler license required.

Ideally speaks Spanish/English fluently.

Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

Course work in Early Childhood Education.

A love for our outdoors, as we are on a 5.5-acre campus space, with creek bed, a garden and lots of space for outdoor learning.

We are moving into the most beautiful season on our campus, and we'd love for our support to enjoy spending time outdoors.

A skill: love for art, music, or story telling.
