Summary/Objective
The Branch Manager is responsible for directing the overall activities of the branch to continually and simultaneously serve the customers within the company’s target market in an extraordinary manner so that the company’s brand name and reputation continue to flourish. This position works to earn an acceptable rate of return on sales after incentive compensation and maintain a healthy cash flow. Additionally, the Branch Manager invests time and money in personnel development.
Essential Functions
- Developing and implementing a business plan to maximize net profit and return on sales
- Developing a branch budget and sales forecast while monitoring actual performance to ensure the branch achieves its objectives
- Working with the VP of Sales to implement and drive the company sales strategy within the branch geography as well as with corporate accounts
- Developing and maintaining relationships with customers and vendors
- Monitoring customer service and addressing customer concerns, issues, and complaints
- Ensuring a quick and proper response to all reasonable customer requests
- Ensuring that all branch personnel understand their individual objectives as well as the company’s objectives, and that they have the necessary tools and resources to achieve these objectives
- Monitoring all branch activities to ensure compliance with government regulations and organizational policies and procedures
- Developing, implementing, and driving objectives for inventory turns to minimize obsolete and overstocked products
- Ensuring that all branch personnel perform their job duties in a safe manner and that they take all reasonable precautions to avoid work-related incidents
- Holding regular and frequent safety discussions and meetings to continually reinforce the safety message
- Helping to resolve conflicting objectives and reinforce respectful communication between all departments

Supervisory Responsibility
The Branch Manager position supervises the work of the entire location, and delegates other management roles and responsibilities as needed to personnel.
Working conditions
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. The employee must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
A moderate amount of travel as well as overnight travel will be expected.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required
- Minimum of 5 years in the Electrical Distribution industry
- College degree(s) preferred
- 2 years of supervisory experience preferred
